How many do I need?

One license is required for each workstation.

One additional license is required for the multi-user server.

Listed upgrade prices include everything except technical support. No additional modules or add-ons are required.

Each new license ordered includes a complimentary NV2 Upgrades Plan for a period of one year (all upgrades, including payroll)

Users who took part in our free Windows upgrade promotions, should note that the promo entitles the bearer to initial upgrade only. NV2 Upgrades Plan fee is payable immediately to receive no charge upgrades in the first year.

General

Q: I've been a user and loyal supporter of NewViews for 10 years. Why don't I get a free NV2 upgrade?

A:
Q.W. Page appreciates your loyalty and we have reciprocated by remaining loyal to you, our NewViews users. How many other programs have you used that have kept working without bugs, year-in and year-out, and which have required so few, if any, repetitive charges? Q.W. Page shareholders and employees have invested millions of dollars in NV2, much of which has been specifically directed toward making the upgrade for current users as seamless as possible.


Q: Will NV2 be available on CD? Is there an extra charge for a CD?

A: We hope to update the vast majority of users via internet download. It is the fastest, most cost effective way to distribute software. For those users who do not have internet access or want a CD, CD's will be available for $49.95. However, a CD may well be out of date by the time it arrives. We expect frequent changes to the help files and the manual
, which registered users can download at no charge.


Q: Are the prices listed on your web site in U.S. or Canadian dollars?

A: The prices listed on the web site are in Canadian dollars for Canadian users. For all other countries they are U.S. dollars. This has been the practice of Q.W. Page for twenty years.


Q: Can I place my order now and have it shipped automatically when it is released?

A: You can place your order now. Click HERE to place your order. Once we are ready to ship, you will be contacted and advised to download your update.


Q: My NewViews consultant retired. What do I do now?

A: Call Q.W. Page and we may be able to refer you to a replacement. Failing that, Q.W. Page will, when possible and practical, make consulting services available directly. We are committed to making every NV2 installation a success. You will not be left alone without help.


Pricing and Licensing

Q:
I'm not clear on how many licenses I need.

A: The NV2 license permits a single user to access any number of databases (sets of books) on a single computer system at one time.

If more than one user wishes to access the same database at the same time, then multiple licenses are required. (e.g. If 3 different users wish to access the same database at the same time, 4 licenses (3 users + 1 server) will be required.).

If more than one user wishes to use NV2 at the same time, each running a different computer, then multiple licenses are required. (e.g. If 3 different users wish to access three different databases at the same time (in single user mode), 3 licenses will be required.)


Q: We have used NV for Dos since 1989, annually renewing the payroll and support contracts.  Will the NV2 upgrade be sent to us automatically, or do we need to order it?

A:
All upgrades must be ordered. None will be sent automatically.


NV2 Upgrades Plan

Q: What is the NV2 Upgrades Plan fee for?

A:
The annual fee covers the price of all NV2 upgrades during the contract period. The plan simplifies the licensing process and will save you money in the long run as we roll out updated versions. We anticipate several upgrades in the foreseeable future. Our plans include several new features, such as EFT (electronic funds transfer) and direct deposit, greater support for export/import, emailing invoices and statements, auto bank reconcile, performance improvements, service packs as required, payroll updates, etc.


Q: Is the NV2 Upgrades Plan fee mandatory, irrespective of whether we need or use the payroll module?

A:
NV2 Upgrades Plan is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended. For most users, the NV2 Upgrades Plan fee begins one year after
your license is registered (users redeeming a free workstation upgrade coupon will be required to prepay the NV2 Upgrades Plan fee for the first year, or not, it's their choice). NV2 Upgrades Plan covers all NV2 upgrades. For users not on a NV2 Upgrades Plan, or users who have allowed a plan to elapse, any upgrades will be charged at full price. Q.W. Page is committed to providing the best technical support possible, at a reasonable price. This is most effectively accomplished if all users have the same version.


Q: Is the NV2 Upgrades Plan for every user/workstation or only for the contact User ID?

A:
The NV2 Upgrades Plan fee is per license, and discounted accordingly. It reflects the fact that any upgrades provided will be for all licenses (e.g. a 5 user system will get 6 upgrades, one for the server and one for each workstation).


Q: I act as the system administrator for the NewViews software, and normally I am the only one calling in for technical support. How does this relate to NV2 Upgrades Plan?

A:
Technical support is separate from NV2 Upgrades Plan, and billed on a "pay as you play" basis. As the system administrator, coordinating support calls for your organization, you will make the most cost effective use of your support time.


Technical Support

Q: Do I get free support with my upgrade?

A:
No. Support is labor intensive, and expensive to provide. Our support plans are documented HERE.


Q: Do I get free installation support?

A:
No. NV2 installation proper takes about 30 seconds and requires about a half dozen mouse clicks. If we offered free "installation" support we would be in endless debates with users about what exactly installation is. In many people's minds, the installation isn't complete until all NV1 books are converted and all functions performed in NV1 are up and running in NV2, including, for example, bank reconciliations, a few payrolls and a year end!


Free Upgrade Coupon/Free Upgrade

Q: Sometime ago I sent in a coupon (or bought a premium support plan during that promo) that entitled for a free Windows upgrade. Do you have any records or how can we go about redeeming the coupon?

A:
Users who received a free workstation upgrade coupon/version, for any reason, and who sent it to our office had that fact recorded in our user database. If you have submitted a free upgrade coupon to Q.W. Page or took part in the premium support plan promo back when it was offered, check the box provided on the order form. If you did not make a copy of the coupon or lost the copy, please confirm with Q.W. Page your entitlement to one free workstation upgrade (EMAIL is best).


Q: I am entitled to a free workstation upgrade, but I want to purchase one more license. What is the cost?

A:
You would be ordering 2 licenses total, and therefore would be entitled to the 2-5 license rate of $445 for the second license.


Q: I want 3 licenses and I have a free upgrade coupon. What do I do?

A:
You order 3 licenses, and deduct the cost of one.
If you want no charge upgrades for the license you acquired with your coupon, check the "NV2 Upgrades Plan" box on the order form.


Reseller/Certified Consultant

Q: What is involved in becoming an NV2 Certified Consultant?

A:
NV2 consultant training is available. Please contact Q.W. Page.


Q: We at one point in the past used to have a reseller status with you but then we had that status cancelled.  Is there a way to have the reseller status reinstated?

A:
NV1 reseller status will not be automatically upgraded to NV2 reseller status. However, resellers are provided for in the NV2 pricing breakpoints. For example, a reseller can purchase 11 licenses at $345 each, and re-sell them at $495 each to registered users only.


Q: I have created custom procedures for NV1. How do I convert them to NV2?

A:
Stay in touch with Q.W. Page for further announcements in this area. We are currently focusing our attention on users that do not have custom programming requirements, but we expect that to change in the very near future.
