NewViews 2.18
Released - September 2, 2010
This is a version change, not just a service pack. The service pack number is reset to zero. After installing this version, each workstation, server, or application database will be automatically processed the first time you open it. You will be asked for confirmation before any processing is performed, and as a precaution, a backup is made automatically before each conversion.
What's New
-
Geographic Sales Tax Codes
Geographic Tax Codes let you set sales tax rates by state, province, zip and/or postal codes. Use the Geographic Tax Codes table if your organization has taxable sales that are cross border, e.g. county, state, province, etc.
This feature can be used in Canada to comply with the Harmonized Sales Tax's Place of supply rules.
-
Customer Sales Code - Aliases
Customer Sales Codes are optional names "aliases" for sales accounts.
-
Optional Transactions Reprocessing
When you move a transaction from one journal to another you are now prompted to "Reprocess" or "Paste As Is". This only applies to purchase and sales transactions.
-
Automatic Server Databases Conversion
When you run a NewViews server using a new version of NewViews, the server database is converted as usual. But directly after this conversion you can automatically convert all application databases offered by that server. The application databases offered by a server are those that appear in the server's database table. You are asked to confirm the conversion of these databases.
This ability eliminates the need to run a workstation on the server computer solely for the purpose of converting the application databases on that server computer.
After the conversions you are provided with a log of which databases were converted and which were skipped. A database is skipped if it already has the current version, or if it has a version later than the current program version.

Behavior Changes
-
Purchase Journal Transactions will now round as per item total entered.
In the past some item total values could not exist or be calculated. For example take a purchase journal with 13% HST tax. When a net value of $100.03 is set, $13.00 of tax is added for an item total of $113.03 When a net value of $100.04 is set, $13.01 of tax is added for an item total of $113.05 So an item total of $113.04 can never exist. However you may purchase $113.04 of gasoline at the pump. The new behavior provides automatic rounding to allow for an item total of $113.04
